For those that know me, it’s no secret – my favourite historical figure of all time is Martin Luther King, Jr. Even though I specialized in ancient Roman history I have always been fascinated by King because he was able to do what I definitely could not: he was able to remain non-violent in the face of massive discrimination and injustice.
The 50th Anniversary of King’s famous ‘I Have a Dream Speech‘ is in exactly one week; the original speech was part of the March of Washington for Jobs and Freedom, on August 28th, 1963. In honour of this every day for the next week I’m going to post a new document about King.
Today’s document: a flier announcing the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963.
