Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie King Meets FDR's Dog Fala

Franklin D. Roosevelt was so attached to his dog, Fala, that the Scottish Terrier went with him almost everywhere.

In this photo, U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt shows Prime Minister William Lyon MacKenzie King one of Fala’s tricks.

This was taken during the August 1943 Quebec Conference, hosted by the Canadian Prime Minister to hold WWII talks between Churchill and FDR. The two leaders agreed during this conference to share nuclear technology, which was significant in WWII because in 1943 the United States was very close to creating its first nuclear bomb.
