Just like kids today play ‘dress-up’, well-to-do boys in the Middle Ages and early Modern times would sometimes get their own set of armour to prepare them for grown-up life (if their parents were rich enough to spare the expense).

These child versions of armour are few and far between in museums compared to their grown-up versions, but here’s one from mid-16th century Germany from the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
