These are the World Press Photo winners from 2012, and as usual the photos are stunning to look through.
I always get upset when modern news media waters-down war and violence: amputations from bombings have become ‘injuries’ and rape has become ‘sexual assault’. This is one of the few places that shows current events from the past year in an honest and uncensored way. This gallery shows the power of recording events so that people know about them, which is something history and photojournalism have in common.
